What Is SOC 2 Compliance?

Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls 2) is a widely recognized framework for evaluating how organizations manage and protect sensitive information.

SOC 2 assessments are conducted by independent auditors and evaluate controls against applicable Trust Services Criteria, including security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

Unlike Type 1, which evaluates the design of controls at a specific point in time, Type 2 evaluates both the design and operating effectiveness of those controls over a defined period.

Achieving SOC 2 Type 2 compliance demonstrates that an organization has established controls designed to safeguard information, manage risk, and support secure, reliable operations, and that those controls have been independently evaluated for their effectiveness over time.
