Are You A Heavy User?
Okay, this has nothing to do with America’s weight problem. Or, drug problem for that matter. It’s about a select group of PathGuide customers who put their Latitude WMS through its paces day in, day out. Some may call them power users. If you consider yourself or your company a “power user” then you’re probably doing more than a few things right. And do them consistently.
In the warehouse, this “get it done right” mind-set isn’t reserved for large distributors or small. Well intended best practices can and do decay over time for a number of reasons. It’s simply about people. The executive sponsor or chief investor of the warehouse management system can be off on other ventures. The warehouse leaders may have been promoted out of the warehouse. Out of site, out of mind.
Being a proficient user of Latitude means that you have the core fundamentals down cold. Armed with this, you can anticipate what the system will prompt for next. Now you’re getting ahead of the curve and can use the flexiblity of Latitude to interrupt what you’re doing and manage the most critical tasks as they arise. Over time, your on-the-ground work across a variety of transaction types (receiving, picking, cycle counting, etc.), assuming you’re cross trained, builds proficiency. You’re better managing the unpredictability of your business using the toolbag in Latitude. This dexterity keeps labor costs in check while you focus on growing your business.
But there’s more to it. As you know, Latitude is an advanced warehouse management system. Its capability has been and is even more so now, in high growth mode. Thanks to your sponsorship, the Latitude development roadmap and version releases continue to add and streamline the functionality you need. Coming this fall, we have the Latitude Slotting Optimization module—an excellent inventory planning tool which can offer huge picking efficiencies in the warehouse. Latitude Manifesting is also scheduled to launch at the same time. This software module will provide comprehensive and easy to use, rate, route, and ship capability. By the way, it’s really fast too – across numerous shipping stations.
Are you a heavy user? Could be. Keep digging and ask “what if?” Or, “how could we do this or that?” Chances are, the answers are already in Latitude. If not, let us help you think beyond the envelope of its capability and understand where you want to take your business next. We’re here to help and appreciate your insights and your business.
